Andrew Desmet - Senior Manager, Conservation Management. Kruger National Park, South Africa - http://www.krugerpark.co.za/ Andrew has always been in love with the bush. As a child he visited various game reserves with his parents on school holidays, in particular, the Kruger National Park. He learned to love all aspects of the bush, and constantly sought information about the small things - plants, flowers and insects. After he finished school, it was no surprise that he went on to study Nature Conservation at Pretoria Technikon. The course had a practical element at the end of it, where the Technikon assisted in job placement for students. This entailed getting some kind of ‘bush’ job. To his surprise and delight, he was to be stationed at Berg-en-Dal camp in the Kruger national Park as a night game-drive student – an absolute dream come true for Andrew. He packed up his life in great haste in order to move and began to settle into this new role. Andrew stayed at Berg-en-Dal for 3 years before moving into the new position of Bush Camp Relief Manager, where he moved from camp to camp when the various managers went on leave. He only left his beloved Kruger in search of a new love (his wife), but as fate would have it he was soon to be back again, this time as the current Park Activities Manager.
